Hello reader,
Before we embark on this journey together through my blog, I want to ensure you understand that what you’re about to read is just a glimpse into who I am. So, let me offer a brief introduction.
I could bore you with the typical spiel: my name’s Alice, I’m 24, grew up in Italy with a mix of Belgian and German heritage, currently studying Global Studies in Maastricht. But honestly, who cares about those details?
Let’s delve into the more intriguing facets of my personality. Three things I loathe: the canned laughter in American TV shows, almonds, especially when they invade cake, and people invading my personal space while they talk. On the flip side, three things I adore: savoring the velvety foam of my morning cappuccino with a spoon, being the first to applaud when the plane touches down, and the simple pleasure of kicking off my socks before bed. Of course, traveling the world is right up there, but that’s a given, isn’t it?
But enough about me. Let’s talk about something truly captivating – the transformative power of sports. Last year, during my gap year in Namibia where I worked as a PE teacher and coach, I had a revelation. Beyond my deep affection for Namibian culture, I witnessed firsthand how sports can bridge gaps, unite people, and infuse joy into everyone’s lives.
During the pandemic, activities like trail running, swimming, hiking, surfing, and horseback riding became my lifelines, keeping me motivated and upbeat. Nature, especially the sea, has always been my sanctuary. As the Italians say, “If you’re born by the sea, it becomes a part of you forever.” If I had the ability, I’d morph into a dolphin and never look back.
Lastly, I’m a social creature at heart. There’s nothing I love more than gathering around a campfire, miles away from civilization, sharing laughter and deep conversations about life and death, strumming a guitar, belting out old classics like “Wonderwall,” and watching the sun rise as the night fades away.
So, welcome to my blog. Get ready for adventures, musings, and perhaps a few surprises along the way. Let’s dive in!
